WITNESS THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH AT ENTIM MAIN CAMP - KENYA

WITNESS THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH AT ENTIM MAIN CAMP - KENYA

Description:
Entim is designed to give you the friendliest, most intimate, luxury safari camp experience and the best wildlife safari in the Masai Mara. Our prime location along the Mara River is unrivalled for seeing and photographing animals all year around, but particularly to observe the greatest wildlife show on earth; over a million wildebeest, zebra and antelopes migrating from the Serengeti into the Masai Mara (July-October).
You may not realise how rare it is to witness a migration river crossing, because the wildebeest can hesitate on the riverbank for days before taking the leap! But since Entim’s main wing overlooks the Mara River, while the private wing has an intimate bush setting, we see migration crossings from within camp. Entim guests are usually first on the scene, up close to all the action and other top animal sightings as and when they happen, without other tourist traffic around. We don't have rush out of the reserve before gates close at 6.30pm, or drive for hours to get to wildlife action, because Entim is in the middle of it all in the heart of the Masai Mara National Reserve!

By Air:
The nearest international airport is Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO), in Nairobi, and lots of people fly into the city when visiting Masai Mara.
1. By road from Nairobi
A majority of travellers fly into Nairobi and opt to reach Masai Mara by road via B3 and C12. The city is approximately 306 kilometres (190 miles) away from the reserve, and it can take 6-7 hours to drive. If you want to experience Kenyan countryside, driving is the way to go. Nairobi to Narok is around a two-and-a-half hour drive, which offers plenty of views and scenery, onwards from that, you'll see the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Be aware that the journey from Narok to Masai Mara can get quite bumpy, and take around three hours, without much to see. If you have a lot of time and want to experience Kenyan landscapes, this is the best option.

2. By plane from Nairobi
If you're short on time, the best option is to fly from Nairobi to Masai Mara to one of the airstrips. It takes from 30 to 45 minutes and it's certainly more comfortable than driving, especially if the primary purpose of your trip is to see wildlife. Flying will provide you with an aerial view of the region that will take your breath away. You can take a domestic flight from Wilson Airport (WIL) in Nairobi to an airstrip closest to your accommodation in Masai Mara.

3. By plane to and from Mombasa
It's also possible to reach Masai Mara from Mombasa, where you can take a non-stop flight to Nairobi. From there, travellers can take another short flight of around 30-45 minutes (depending on which airstrip you are landing into) to the reserve. Some safari packages offer the option to fly to Nairobi and drive from there to Masai Mara.

There are also direct inbound and outbound flights from Mombasa to the Kichwa Airstrip nearby Masai Mara. An air safari is a unique way to experience Africa and the Masai Mara game reserve. You'll get to fly over Lake Amboseli, the Great Rift Valley and enjoy views of the Soda Lakes Natron in Tanzania and Magadi in Kenya.

Again if you're short on time, this isn't the best option, but if you want to explore more of Kenya and experience an exciting city that's renowned for being a melting pot, this is the way to go.

The Entim experience is not your average hotel or lodge, it’s a feeling of being part of the landscape and having profound encounters with wild animals and Maasai people in their own land. Sit on your veranda and look over the Mara River at one of Africa’s greatest stretches of savanna, with the Rift Valley escarpment in the distance. Migrating wildebeest gather on these riverbanks and begin their migration into the Masai Mara. You will hear the sounds of grunting gnu, hippos, hyenas and lions from your bed at night. These wild animals are very close by, so our red-robed Maasai warriors escort you to your room after dinner and drinks around the camp fire, where you’ll find a hot water bottle warming the bed. It’s a sharing of passions and significant moments in the heart of one of the most famous wildlife reserves in the world.
It’s the ultimate safari!
The Masai Mara is one of the world’s most venerated game reserves, because once you’ve seen its big skies, rolling savanna, great herds of animals and variety of birdlife, you’ll never forget it. At Entim we make sure that becomes a truth because our experienced Maasai driver-guides have grown up around here and possess an innate ability and instinctive talent to read nature’s signs as if it were an open book. Each day there is something extraordinary to see and our guides will reveal it to you. They are particularly skilled at providing great photo opportunities, for entertaining children with bush lore and for sharing wisdoms about their extraordinary way of life.

According to custom, grazing cattle is the God given right of Maasai and their cows provide most sustenance needed by a Maasai family. Farming is considered a foolish, back-breaking way to scrape a living! The Maasai lifestyle is completely at odds with western practices, but there are many insights to be gained. Ask your guide to take you to his Maasai homestead –you can book this excursion while in camp.
Looking for that “perfect” wildlife shot? You might just get it at Entim! Our driver-guides are skilled in finding the action and putting you in the right position to take the shot you’ve always wanted. You can download and edit your images in our iMac Photo Studios, free up storage space, post onto social media then can get out there for the next great shot.
